ATARI 2600 ODYSSEY 2 INTELLIVISION COLECOVISION COMPUTERS |
PUBLISHER: Imagic RELEASED: 1983 PROGRAM: Pat Ransil FORMAT: Cartridge |
Microsurgeon was
originally designed and programmed by Rick Levine for the Mattel
Intellivision game console. The game proved to be such a realistic
medical simulation that there were even some medical schools that began
using the game to help teach and train their medical students. With
IBM's brand new PC Jr. computer system beginning to gain some
popularity in the burgeoning home computer market, Imagic decided to
release Microsurgeon on cartridge format for the system. In Microsurgeon, your patient has been exposed to a deadly gas and you must now use your medical skills and your robotic probe to perform internal medical procedures in an attempt to save your patient from certain death. You can perform surgeries, administer medications, and monitor each and every aspect of your patient's phycial condition. But you'll have to be careful as your robotic probe has a limited supply of power and if you run low on power, you'll have to guide the probe out through one of your patient's orifaces in order to recharge its power source. This IBM PC Jr. version is extremely rare and sought after by Imagic collectors, so you can expect to pay a very high price tag if you plan to own this obscure game title. It's been known to sell among collectors for in excess of $200 for a brand new copy of the game. In all honesty, the game looks and plays exactly like the Intellivision and Texas Instruments TI-99/4A versions of the game, so if you really want to play the game, it would be a lot easier, not to mention cheaper, to go with one of those versions. Microsurgeon is a complex, but extremely enjoyable game, that will ultimately challenge your intelligence just as much as your reflexes. TRIVIA: Microsurgeon was one of only two Imagic titles released for the IBM PC Jr. computer. Rob Fulop's Demon Attack was the only other PC Jr. Imagic release. |
