ATARI 2600 ODYSSEY 2 INTELLIVISION COLECOVISION COMPUTERS |
PUBLISHER: Imagic RELEASED: 1983 PROGRAM: Bruce Pedersen FORMAT: Cartridge |
Demon Attack went on to
become Imagic's most successful title, so it's
no surprise that the game was ported to many of the game consoles and
computer systems of the time period. The IBM PC Jr. was certainly an
unlikely candidate for an Imagic game release, but oddly enough, this
port is probably the best overall version of the game. Demon
Attack was released in both cartridge format, as well as
on a 5.25" floppy diskette. The only difference between the two
versions was the
fact that the diskette version featured an opening title screen that
wasn't found in the cartridge version. In Demon Attack, you're marooned on the Ice Planet of Krybor and you must fight off wave after wave of attacking demons. Each new wave of flying demons become increasingly more powerful as does their barrage of firepower. Using your laser cannon, you must take down these demons before they can reach the planet below. In Demon Attack you have to take on wave after wave of flying demons as they swoop down at you from the sky above. You simply move your laser cannon left and right using the joystick and shoot your lasers using the fire button. The game play in the IBM PC Jr. version is almost exactly like the Atari 2600 version of the game, aside from the addition of the mothership level in this IBM PC Jr. release. As you can see from the screenshots, the game is very detailed visually. The level of depth and realism in the backgrounds is incredible, especially given the time period. The demon mothership level is particularly impressive to look at, and really makes this version of the game stand out from other versions. The music is also very well done and definitely the best of any release of Demon Attack out there. If you want to play one of the best versions of Demon Attack, give this one a try. If you can find it. |
